Soundtrack to My Funeral, Part 1
I’ll Fly Away
Some glad morning when this life is over
I’ll fly away
To a home on God’s celestial shore
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away)
Chorus
I’ll fly away, fly away, Oh Glory
I’ll fly away (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).
When the shadows of this life have gone
I’ll fly away
Like a bird from prison bars has flown
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away)
Oh how glad and happy when we meet
I’ll fly away
No more cold iron shackles on my feet
I’ll fly away
Just a few more weary days and then,
I’ll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end,
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away)It’s Gospel Sunday

Preservation Hall Jazz Band & Del McCoury Band - I’ll Fly Away
yesterday i downloaded the album “American Legacies”, which is a collaborative effort by these two bands (a jazz band and a bluegrass band, respectively) and it’s just really cool. i don’t always go for jazz music—or bluegrass music, to be honest—but for some reason, the mix of the two genres on this album is totally doing it for me.
anyway, i thought i’d share this particular song, because, well, it’s a version of “I’ll Fly Away.” and there is always a place in your life for another version of “I’ll Fly Away.”
bears repeating
there is always a place in your life for another version of “I’ll Fly Away.”
